My name is Jennifer Nigro; I’m the Coordinator of Volunteers for Audio-Reader, an audio information service for people who have trouble reading standard print due to vison loss, physical or learning disability, mobility challenges, and age. As some of you know, we are getting ready to officially launch service in Springfield, MO. This will begin with offering the Springfield News-Leader on our Telephone Reader service (area grocery ads are also available). To that end, we are recruiting volunteer readers, and will be at the Springfield library on from to hold reader auditions. Please help share the attached information about our audition day. Service Hours Opportunity with the Boy Scouts of America
The Ozark Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America has volunteer and service hour opportunities (CIT Program) over the course of the summer. These opportunities take place at the summer resident camp located in Marshfield, MO. Opportunities include but are not limited to the following:
Assistant Commissioner – this “customer service” role interfaces with Scouts and Scout Leaders to find out and help eliminate any needs or concerns during their day at camp.
Assistant Counselor – this role assists instructors with their daily activities. This could be anything from updating Scout progress reports to assisting with the instruction of classes.
Assistant Office Manager – this role assists the camp office staff with daily reports, schedule changes and updates, and helping assist the Commissioner staff with potential needs of the visiting Scouts.
Assistant Quartermaster – this role assists with the dispensation of camp equipment as well as tracking and reporting any issues with camp equipment and facilities.
All opportunities can be anywhere from one 8-hour day to a full week that could earn anywhere from 60-80 hours. Scouting background is not needed.
Camp Arrowhead hosts over 1,500 Scouts from Missouri and the surrounding states over 7 weeks each summer. Scouts not only camp, but learn outdoor skills and leadership. Camp is open from June 5, 2016 through July 29, 2016.
