IC Singers 

The elementary IC Singers (Grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th) will meet during the Spring semester on Tuesday mornings in the choir room from 7:30-8:00 am.

The middle school IC Singers (Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th) will meet during the Fall sememster on Monday mornings in the choir room from 7:30-8:00 am.

 

Tech Ninjas

This group of seventh and eighth students is trained during the summer and throughout the school year to assist in the classroom with daily maintenance and troubleshooting for our technological devices.

This group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the Computer Lab from 7:45-8:10 am.

 

Yearbook Committee

Yearbook Committee consists of eighth grade students. These students take pictures throughout the year of classroom activities, special school events, and memorable moments. These photographs are organized in a thoughtful and artistic way to create a wonderful memory of the school year. This activity involves some after school time as well as teacher approved time during the school day. The students use an innovative computer program to edit and design the yearbook. Yearbook Committee allows for a creative and interactive way for students to work with other students and teachers throughout the year.

This group meets on Tuesdays in room 8A from 3:15-4:15.

Student Council

Student Council is a student run organization representing grades 1-8 that provides monthly service activities throughout the school year. These fun activities involve the whole student body and help create a sense of community within our school family.

This group will meet on FAB Fridays in room 8B from 7:30-8:00 am.

Cheerleading

The Jr. High cheerleading squad currently is made up of 7th and 8th graders. The girls work very hard to learn their routines and to lead the fans in the fall for girls' basketball and during the boys’ winter basketball season.

IC Geo Bee Club

This is an exciting club for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students interested in geography. Students meet September through December in preparation for the National Geographic Bee. Students participate in a school wide geography bee in December. The school winner takes a written test to qualify for the state competition usually held in April. The National Competition is held in Washington D.C. in May.

This group will meet on Mondays in room 8B from 3:15-4:15.

 

Middle School Math Competition Program (Grades 4-6)

Math Olympiad: A worldwide math cempetition offered at both the elementary and middle school level which is composed of a series of five montly contests of five problems each taken from November to March. Scores are cululative.

Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics: A state level copetition with regional contests at selected sites across the state on a Saturday typically in February or March. Thoese teams advancing ot state compete in March or April.

Missouri Mathematics League: A state-wide grade level competition given to every 4th, 5th, and 6th grade student in the classroom. The top five individual scores in 6th grade only are totaled and submitted as a team score for state standings.

This group will meet on Wednesdays in room 5A from 3:15-4:15.

 Junior High Math Competition Program (Grades 7-8)


Math Counts: Math Counts is a national coaching and competition program sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers which is designed to stimulate 7th and 8th grade students’ interest and achievement in mathematics. Regional competitions are held on a Saturday in February. State level competitions are typically held on a Saturday in March with Nationals on a weekend in May.


Missouri Mathematics League: A state-wide grade level competition given to every 7th and 8th grade student in the classroom in late February. Top five individual scores are totaled and submitted as a team score for state standings.

Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics: A Junior High level competition with regional contests at selected sites across the state on a Saturday in February and March. Those teams advancing to state compete on a Saturday in April.


College of the Ozarks: A junior high level math competition offered to area schools by the math department of the Collect of the Ozarks in Hollister, MO. which takes place during a school day in March or April.

This group meets on Wednesdays in room 7B from 3:15-4:15.

 

Science Olympiad

Immaculate Conception School participates in Science Olympiad in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. For over 25 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science education.Science teachers will be coaching the teams with the help of others who are knowledgeable in their fields. We are looking for students, interested in hands on science activities and group participation.

Through the Olympiad, students, teachers, coaches, principals, business leaders and parents bond together to work toward a shared goal. Teamwork is a required skill in most scientific careers today, and Science Olympiad encourages group learning by designing events that forge alliances. The team meets after school once a week and/ or more in the months leading up to a tournament. We may also schedule some study sessions outside of school if necessary.

We are looking for adults with knowledge in one of the following fields to help assist the students in Life, Personal and Social Science, Earth and Space Science, Chemistry, Technology, Engineering, Anatomy, Water Quality, Meteorology, Rocks and Minerals, Food Science, Astronomy, Forestry, Physics, experimental designs and problem solving.

This group meets on Thursdays in the science and computer labs from 3:15-4:15.

 

Speech Team

Speech Team is open to 7th & 8th grade students from all three Springfield Catholic elementary schools.  Students are given opportunities  to develop their public speaking skills and compete in a spring speech competition.  This team meets weekly at St. Agnes and offers a fun and supportive environment for students eager to gain confidence in their public speaking abilities.
